Western Australia Premier Roger Cook and tourism sector leaders have urged Federal Immigration Minister Tony Burke to reconsider controversial changes to backpacker visa rules.
In a letter to Mr Burke, the group called for a rethink of the visa shake-up, which has raised concerns within Western Australia’s tourism industry.
The intervention brings together the state government and tourism representatives in a joint appeal over the proposed backpacker visa changes.
