Cynthia Erivo spoofed her own role in Wicked by playing Glinda in a sketch on Saturday Night Live UK.
The 39-year-old three-time Oscar nominee, who hosted the latest episode over the weekend, appeared in a blonde wig and pink tracksuit alongside Ayoade Bamgboye as Elphaba.
Erivo played Elphaba opposite Ariana Grande’s Glinda in the film. While the characters express their rivalry through song in Wicked, the sketch took a more physical and comic approach, with Glinda slapping Elphaba and calling her “very classless”.
The exchange also included a joke about being unable to afford Elphaba’s makeover, with Glinda suggesting that the pair could have the cost paid off by the Wizard.
“The Wizard?” Bamgboye’s Elphaba replies. “But I’m a virgin!”
The sketch later took the pair to the Emerald City, where Glinda asked the Wizard for a Birkin bag. The characters nearly kissed before returning to Shiz, and eventually leaned in for an actual kiss before the scene ended with a large explosion effect.
