Mathys Tel scored a stunning solo goal as Tottenham secured a 2-0 Premier League victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, ending their eight-year wait for a win at the ground.
The French forward collected possession deep inside his own half in the 87th minute before driving forward along the left. After shrugging off Josh Acheampong, Tel cut inside past several challenges and fired a low finish into the bottom-left corner.
His strike completed a memorable result for Roberto De Zerbi’s side against Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea and put the outcome beyond doubt.
Mathys Tel’s solo goal seals Tottenham victory
Tottenham had taken the lead in the 77th minute after a costly error from Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders. Making his first Premier League start in place of the injured Emiliano Martínez, the Belgian attempted to punch away an inswinging corner but misjudged the ball and sent it backwards over his own line.
Chelsea’s difficult evening worsened three minutes later when Cole Palmer was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge on Conor Gallagher. The dismissal left the hosts with ten men.
Tel then delivered the decisive moment, carrying the ball from inside his own half before finishing emphatically past Penders. The goal capped a dominant away performance and gave Tottenham their first Premier League win at Stamford Bridge since April 2018.
