President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump voted in person in Florida on Saturday, taking part in the first day of early voting in the state’s midterm elections.
The couple cast their ballots at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections building. Mr Trump, who is registered to vote in Palm Beach County, then travelled to Georgia for a rally supporting Republican candidates Mike Collins and Rick Jackson.
Early voting in Florida runs from October 24 through Halloween. Mr Trump’s plans for Election Day have not been disclosed, and he did not respond when reporters asked what he would be doing.
The president has said he prefers to vote on Election Day. In recent elections, however, he voted by post, despite his criticism of widespread postal voting.
Mr Trump has spent much of the week campaigning for Republican candidates, appearing at rallies in South Carolina, Iowa and Florida before Saturday’s event in Perry, Georgia.
In a post ahead of the rally, he described Mr Collins and Mr Jackson as “two incredible people” and attacked their opponents, claiming they wanted to take away guns, open the borders and allow men to compete in women’s sports.
