Drake’s 40th birthday party in New York took an unexpected turn when the Backstreet Boys appeared to perform, prompting an excited reaction from the rapper before he joined them on stage.
Video from the event shows Drake smiling, laughing and pointing towards the group as they walked on. He exclaimed, “Oh my God,” before watching the performance unfold.
The rapper later embraced the band members. Kevin Richardson also described how he had connected with Drake ahead of the appearance.
Drake then performed alongside the Backstreet Boys as they sang their hit song “I Want It That Way”.
The celebration took place at Casa Cipriani, where guests were also treated to a luxury giveaway and a “Deal or No Deal”-style game featuring prizes of up to $1 million.
Drake also spoke about the importance of paying it forward during the party.
