Five people have been arrested after the body of a man in his 50s was found at a property in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, days after he is believed to have died.
Northamptonshire Police said officers were called to the address in High Street on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 2, following a concern-for-welfare report.
A forensic postmortem examination was carried out at Leicester Royal Infirmary on Thursday, September 3, after which detectives launched a murder investigation.
Three men, aged 43, 48 and 54, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. A 38-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
All five remain in police custody. The investigation is being led by detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit.
Detective Inspector Cheryl Thompson said officers had been speaking to residents and businesses in the area and urged anyone who had seen suspicious activity in High Street during the previous week to come forward.
