Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is joining Fox News as an on-air contributor from November 1, the network has announced.
Leavitt, 29, was the youngest person to hold the White House press secretary role. She left the position at the end of August, when President Donald Trump described her as one of his “most trusted aides”.
Fox News chief executive Suzanne Scott said Leavitt’s experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gave her a distinctive understanding of the current political landscape.
Leavitt said she was looking forward to sharing her perspective with Fox’s viewers and bringing “the same energy and candor” that characterised her time as press secretary.
She had previously said she wanted to spend more time with her two children. Her second child, Viviana, was born in May, and she also has a two-year-old son.
Before taking the White House role, Leavitt served as press secretary for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. She also made an unsuccessful bid for Congress in New Hampshire in 2022, aged 25.
She is not the first former Trump press secretary to join Fox News. Kayleigh McEnany moved to the network in 2021 and remains there, while Dana Perino, who served as press secretary under President George W Bush, is a political commentator.
Trump has also appointed several Fox News figures to senior roles in his administration, including Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth.
The president’s relationship with the network has become increasingly strained despite favourable coverage from some of its prominent commentators. On Sunday, he criticised what he said was Fox News’s limited coverage of his rallies.
