Four people have been killed and at least 15 injured in three separate shootings in Dallas’s Deep Ellum district during the early hours of Sunday morning.
The Dallas Police Department said the incidents occurred within about 75 minutes at locations around Elm Street, Main Street and South Crowdus Street as Halloween crowds gathered in the nightlife area.
According to the department’s preliminary investigation, the first shooting was reported at about 12.20am in the 2600 block of Elm Street. Further gunfire was reported in the 2600 block of Main Street at about 1.05am, followed by a third shooting in the 200 block of South Crowdus Street at approximately 1.35am.
Police said 19 people were affected across the three scenes, with four pronounced dead and 15 taken to hospitals or seeking medical treatment independently. No police officers were injured.
Dallas police chief Daniel Comeaux said investigators had not established whether the shootings were connected. Officers were working to identify those responsible and were collecting surveillance footage and other evidence from businesses in the area.
The Deep Ellum district was closed as police investigated. Authorities said some people had been detained for questioning, while suspects linked to the shootings remained at large.
Police urged anyone with information, photographs or video from the area to contact Sergeant Boz Rojas on 214-671-3598 or by email at boz.rojas@dallaspolice.gov.
