A Halloween party at a 10 million-dollar mansion overlooking Clovelly Beach in Sydney ended with police and paramedics called to disperse a crowd of about 200 people.
Emergency services were sent to the property on Eastbourne Avenue at about 8.50pm on Friday after the gathering spilled into nearby streets. Some gatecrashers were reported to have jumped the fence to get inside.
A local resident claimed on Facebook that intoxicated partygoers had also tried to enter her neighbouring property, writing: “Drunk kids everywhere…. they were all trying to jump in our backyard. Seriously out of control.”
The situation eased after officers arrived. Paramedics established a treatment station in the street to deal with revellers affected by heavy drinking.
One person was taken by stretcher to Prince of Wales Hospital for further monitoring, while several others were treated at the scene.
New South Wales Police said no arrests were made and no property damage was recorded. Officers remained outside the mansion as the crowd gradually dispersed.
A local Facebook page also reported that some people continued drinking at Waverley Cemetery before they were moved on.
Police called to second Sydney Halloween party
Police were also called to a separate house party in Marsden Park, in Sydney’s north-west, after hundreds of teenagers spilled into the streets when the gathering became overcrowded.
Closed-circuit television footage from neighbouring properties on Charles Tompson Boulevard showed police dispersing the crowd. Some partygoers reportedly became unruly after being told to leave.
During the incident, an 18-year-old man was slashed across the arm following an altercation with another reveller, police said. A 17-year-old boy was later arrested and charged with reckless wounding and possessing a prohibited drug.
The teenager was refused bail and appeared before a children’s court on Saturday.
