Tom Rhys Harries and Naomi Ackie appeared together at the world premiere of DC Studios’ Clayface in Los Angeles, where the co-stars coordinated in black for the event.
The pair attended the screening at the Hollywood Legion Theater on Tuesday evening, 13 October. Director James Watkins was also present, alongside DC Studios co-chairmen and co-chief executives James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Gunn attended with his wife, Jennifer Holland, while Safran was accompanied by his wife, Natalie.
What is Clayface about?
The film follows Matt Hagen, who rises from being a street kid in Gotham to a leading Hollywood actor before a crime boss’s actions leave him horribly disfigured.
After being abandoned by his team, Hagen turns to an advanced treatment which restores his former appearance. However, the procedure also affects his grip on reality and sends him on a destructive quest for revenge.
Clayface marks DC Studios’ first horror-thriller and has been given an R rating in the United States.
Harries plays Matt Hagen, one of the best-known versions of the Clayface character in DC Comics. The film also stars David Dencik, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, Nancy Carroll and Joshua James.
In the comics, Clayface has been portrayed by several characters, including Basil Karlo and Matt Hagen. Karlo was a former Gotham actor whose career collapse fuelled an obsession with fame, while Hagen gained the ability to transform his body after being exposed to a mysterious substance.
The characters have used their shapeshifting abilities to challenge Batman, while their stories have also explored struggles with identity and difficult circumstances.
Clayface is due to arrive in cinemas on 23 October.
