Democratic congressman Darren Soto gathered supporters in Kissimmee on election night as he faced Republican challenger Dan Green in Florida’s Ninth Congressional District.
FOX 35 reporter Chris Lindsay was live from Soto’s watch party as voters awaited the result of the closely watched race on Tuesday, November 3.
Soto, who is seeking another term in Congress, was listed as the qualified Democratic incumbent by the Florida Division of Elections. Green was his Republican opponent. ([dos.elections.myflorida.com](https://dos.elections.myflorida.com/candidates/CanDetail.asp?account=89339&utm_source=openai))
The contest was fought in a newly redrawn district covering parts of Orange and Osceola counties, as well as areas of Polk, Indian River, Okeechobee, Highlands and Glades counties. The new boundaries altered the political make-up of the seat and increased the focus on the result.
