Jay-Z has reportedly chosen himself to perform at the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show, according to a report attributed to multiple sources.
The rapper and Roc Nation founder is said to have spent weeks considering the line-up before deciding that he would be the strongest choice for the event at SoFi Stadium on 14 February 2027.
Sources told Puck News that selecting Jay-Z was a “more compelling” idea than choosing Miley Cyrus or Justin Bieber, who were believed to be among the frontrunners for Super Bowl LXI. Justin Bieber and Harry Styles had also reportedly been on Roc Nation’s wish list.
There has been no official announcement from the NFL. Roc Nation has been contacted for a response but has not commented.
Roc Nation has overseen production of the Super Bowl halftime show since reportedly securing a deal worth 5 million dollars a year in 2019. The arrangement was renewed in 2024 for a further five years.
The selection of Bad Bunny for last year’s performance prompted criticism from conservatives, largely because he performed in Spanish. A Jay-Z appearance would therefore put the artist responsible for helping shape the show at the centre of its biggest stage.
