Katie Zacharia has spoken out after being removed as Donald Trump’s press secretary just five days into the role, praising the US president as she described her time working for him as an honour.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Ms Zacharia wrote: “President Trump is a kind, wonderful, gracious, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and the most hardworking man.”
She added: “I wish more Americans appreciated him. No one will ever make America great the way he has and continues to. It was an honor to work for him.”
Ms Zacharia, 41, had been summoned to meet President Trump on Friday. During the meeting, he told her: “You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. Honestly if I were you I’d reconsider.”
