A single-engine plane crashed on the shoulder of a motorway near Flint, Michigan, after its engine failed while the aircraft was descending towards Bishop Airport. The pilot, who was the only person on board, was not injured.
The aircraft came down on Interstate 69 near the interchange with Interstate 75, according to Flint Township Police. No other vehicles were damaged in the incident.
Police said a mechanical failure caused the engine to stop, leaving the pilot to make an emergency landing alongside the highway.
Flint Township investigators are working with the Federal Aviation Administration and officials at Bishop Airport to establish what caused the engine failure.
