Sean “Diddy” Combs’ projected release date has been pushed back by more than a month, after reports alleged that the music mogul had been enjoying a privileged lifestyle while serving his sentence at a federal prison in New Jersey.
Records from the US Bureau of Prisons now list 2 March 2028 as Combs’ release date, replacing the previous date of 21 January 2028. He is being held at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security federal facility.
The change was reported after claims emerged that Combs had access to comforts including specially prepared meals, massages and help from fellow inmates with household chores. Reports also alleged that he had used a prohibited mobile phone and possessed alcohol.
Combs was subsequently reported to have been moved to the prison’s Special Housing Unit, commonly known as solitary confinement, while officials examined the allegations. Neither the exact reason for that move nor the reason for the revised release date has been publicly confirmed.
The Bureau of Prisons said it did not comment on the conditions of confinement of individual prisoners, citing privacy, safety and security concerns.
A spokesperson for Combs said his legal team was not given an explanation for how the bureau calculated or adjusted his projected release date. The spokesperson added that Combs remained focused on serving his sentence, awaiting the outcome of his appeal and looking forward to returning to his family.
Combs is serving a 50-month sentence after being convicted in 2025 on two counts of transporting people across state lines for prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.
