A mix of food, fitness, family and community events is taking place across the Phoenix area on Saturday, October 10, with Oktoberfest celebrations in Tempe among the main attractions.
The Four Peaks Oktoberfest runs from midday until midnight at Tempe Beach Park, 80 W Rio Salado Parkway. Organised by Four Peaks Brewing Co and Tempe Sister Cities, the festival includes live music, German food and beer, contests and activities for children.
The organisers say the event is a Tempe tradition dating back more than 50 years and supports the work of Tempe Sister Cities. Admission to the main festival is free, although some VIP experiences require payment and are restricted to those aged 21 and over.
Runners can take part in the Oktoberfest Runnin’ for the Brats races at Tempe Town Lake. The programme includes a 10K for runners, a 5K run or walk and a one-mile run or walk, with the event presented by the Frank Kush Youth Foundation.
The race organisers say participants have partnered with Four Peaks Oktoberfest for 16 years. Runners with race bibs are also entitled to free Saturday admission to the festival.
