An 18-year-old man who was shot in Arlington, Texas, drove about 12 miles to Fort Worth before he was found dead inside his vehicle at a QuikTrip petrol station, police said.
Fort Worth police were called to the station in the 6600 block of Brentwood Stair Road at 3.08am on Sunday after the man was discovered with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arlington officers had earlier been sent to an apartment complex in the 3100 block of East Park Row Drive at about 2.54am after a resident reported hearing what sounded like gunfire. No victim or suspect was initially found.
A witness who was with the victim told police he had been shot at the Arlington complex. The witness was not injured and has been co-operating with investigators, according to NBC 5.
Arlington police later returned to the apartment complex and found several shell casings in the car park. The scene is being treated as a murder investigation, and no arrests had been announced.
Fort Worth police said they were referring questions about the shooting to Arlington detectives because the initial offence took place in Arlington. The investigation remains ongoing.
