A man has been shot dead in Houston’s Second Ward after an argument reportedly turned physical, while another man was detained after being found with a gunshot wound to his foot, police said.
Houston Police Department officers were called to Harrisburg Boulevard near Delmar Street at about 9.30pm on Saturday, October 10, following reports of gunfire.
They found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released.
Second man detained after shooting
Police said the initial dispute began when one man confronted another about being at a boarding house despite not being a resident. The argument then became physical before a gun was drawn, according to investigators.
Officers obtained a description of the suspected gunman while examining the scene.
About a mile away, police received a separate report of a shooting and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his foot. Investigators said he matched the description given at the first scene.
The man was detained and taken to hospital for treatment. Police have not publicly identified him and have not said whether charges have been filed.
The Houston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. Officers have not disclosed what caused the dispute or explained how the second man sustained his injury.
