Calese Crowder, a 39-year-old convicted sex offender known for alleged “butt sniffing” incidents, has been sentenced to 170 days in Los Angeles County jail for violating his parole.
Crowder was arrested on August 28 after Glendale police received reports of a man behaving suspiciously at several businesses and crouching close to customers.
Officers were first called to a Big Sav discount store on West Glenoaks Boulevard, where witnesses reported seeing a man hunkered down near people. Police later received a similar report from a nearby Marshalls store.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from both locations and identified Crowder, who was subsequently found in the 100 block of South Brand Boulevard. He was arrested for breaching the terms of his parole.
Crowder has a history of arrests in Glendale and neighbouring Burbank. In 2025, he was arrested after allegedly sniffing a woman’s backside at a Nordstrom Rack store in Burbank.
He previously attracted widespread attention in 2023 after footage appeared to show him crouching near a woman at a Barnes & Noble store. The woman, Michaela Witter, said Crowder had been following her and appeared to be smelling her from behind.
