Maya Jama is stepping down as host of Love Island UK after nine series, bringing her time on the ITV dating show to an end.
Jama announced her departure on Instagram, describing her tenure as “an incredible era” and saying she had decided it was time to leave the programme.
“What an incredible era and what an unforgettable time I’ve had, it’s been far too much fun to put into words or a video but as all good things must come to an end, it’s my time to step down as the host of my beloved Love Island,” she wrote.
She took over as host in 2023 for the show’s ninth season and went on to present Love Island Aftersun, Love Island Games and Love Island All Stars.
Reflecting on her time on Love Island UK, Jama said: “I started hosting the show aged 28 and during the 9 incredible series met the most wonderful humans along the way. I’ve loved every slow-mo walk, fire pit and live show. I’ll forever be grateful for the experience.”
Jama, who recently appeared in the second season of Netflix’s The Gentlemen, said it was now time to “throw myself into something new”.
