Melanie Sykes has been seen wearing a headscarf while taking her dog for a walk, in her first public appearance since revealing that alopecia had left her having lost “two-thirds” of her hair.
The 55-year-old presenter was pictured out on Monday, 31 August, with her head covered as she continued to deal with the effects of the condition.
Sykes has shared candid updates about her hair loss on social media, including images showing significant thinning on both sides of her scalp. She has said that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition and had been experiencing widespread inflammation.
In an earlier post, she wrote: “As much as I love using my head scarves, I cannot wait to get some hair,” adding that her hair had been falling out “really quickly” after around a year and a half of hair loss.
She later shared a photograph showing her bald head, captioned: “Loss + Gain = Life.”
Sykes, who stepped away from mainstream broadcasting in 2021, previously told followers that she was “in so much pain” while describing herself as “two-thirds bald”.
