Milwaukee is facing a hot and humid start to September, with temperatures expected to reach 90F on Tuesday and the heat index climbing as high as 100F, according to FOX6 chief meteorologist Rob Haswell.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon, while patchy fog may linger in the morning. The National Weather Service has warned that areas of locally dense fog are possible across south-eastern Wisconsin.
Forecasters say the unsettled pattern is being driven by a stalled frontal boundary, which will keep rain and thunderstorms in the forecast from late Tuesday into the first half of the weekend. Dry spells are expected between the storm rounds.

Wednesday will remain warm, with a high of about 88F and a chance of showers and thunderstorms. The risk of stronger storms increases from Wednesday night through Friday, although severe weather is not expected everywhere.
Thursday is forecast to reach 86F, with showers and thunderstorms possible. Morning showers are likely on Friday before further storms develop, with another high of 86F.
Showers and thunderstorms could continue into Saturday, when temperatures are expected to reach 84F. Sunday should be slightly quieter, although a small chance of storms remains, with a high near 84F.
The National Weather Service said heat indices in the low to mid-90s are likely through the end of the working week, while locations receiving more sunshine could briefly approach 100F.
Conditions are expected to become less active as the weekend progresses, with the most persistent storm chances easing after Friday.
