Milwaukee is set for a cooler Sunday before a stormier spell brings widespread rain and thunderstorms to south-eastern Wisconsin from Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning.
Temperatures are expected to reach about 21C on Sunday, with partly cloudy skies and a few light showers, particularly near the Wisconsin–Illinois border. Winds will remain light from the north-west, while overnight conditions turn mostly clear with lows around 10C.
Heavy rain expected across Milwaukee
Cloud will build on Monday as moisture moves back into the region. Rain is forecast to become more widespread during the afternoon, with thunderstorms developing overnight and continuing into Tuesday morning.
Forecasters expect many areas to receive between 25mm and 50mm of rain. The National Weather Service has also warned that south-easterly winds could strengthen on Monday night, with gusts reaching about 48kph.
The risk of severe weather has eased, although a few storms could still produce gusty winds. The heaviest downpours are expected from Monday night into the early hours of Tuesday.
Tuesday will begin with rain and thunderstorms before showers become more scattered. Temperatures could reach 26C, with south-westerly winds of up to 32kph.
Showers are then likely to return on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with thunderstorms possible at times. Daytime temperatures are expected to range from about 20C to 23C during the second half of the week.
Conditions may briefly settle on Wednesday morning before further unsettled weather develops later in the day. Residents are advised to monitor updated forecasts as the rain and thunderstorm risk evolves.
