All northbound lanes of the I-75/85 Downtown Connector were closed at North Avenue in Atlanta on Friday night because of police activity, causing severe congestion through Midtown and Downtown.
The shutdown began at about 9.37pm on November 6, with law enforcement officers and emergency responders blocking traffic on the major interstate route.
The nature of the incident had not been released. Officials had not reported any crashes or injuries linked to the closure.
The Georgia Department of Transportation warned that delays could continue until approximately 11.37pm, although the expected reopening time could change as the response continued.
Drivers heading north were advised to avoid the Downtown Connector and use alternative routes. Motorists can check Georgia’s official 511 traffic service for updated road information. ([511ga.org](https://511ga.org/about/about?utm_source=openai))
