Prince William does not want to speak to Prince Harry again, a London-based royal editor has claimed as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex settle into life back in Britain.
Bronte Coy, a News Corp royal editor, said she understood that the Prince of Wales had no intention of resuming contact with his brother.
“William, at the moment, as far as I know, never wants to speak to his brother again,” Ms Coy said during an episode of The Royal Edit.
She also claimed that William and Catherine had “no interest in speaking to them whatsoever”, referring to Harry and Meghan.
The remarks come as the Sussexes are reportedly living in the Cotswolds, following their departure from royal duties several years ago. Ms Coy said people living locally appeared to support the King and Prince William, describing the reaction to the couple’s return as frosty.
“Living here and seeing how passionately people dislike them has been very eye-opening,” she said.
Despite the reported hostility, Ms Coy said sources close to Harry and Meghan believed they “really love living here” and were enjoying life on a countryside estate.
She suggested the tension could make social relationships difficult for people who might otherwise befriend the couple. “You don’t want to sort of pick a side at the moment, I’d imagine,” she said.
It remains unclear whether Harry has met face-to-face with King Charles since returning to the UK. One reported reason for the move was to allow the couple’s children to be closer to their grandfather.
Ms Coy said the King wanted a close relationship with his grandchildren and was “really soft-hearted about this”, but claimed his support for Harry had caused him difficulties with sections of the British public.
She also questioned whether a meeting between Charles and his grandchildren at Highgrove in July had influenced the Sussexes’ decision to return. The children were said to have seen their grandfather there for the first time in four years.
