Georgia O’Keeffe was honoured by the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival through a piano quintet commissioned from composer John Harbison and dedicated to the artist.
The work was presented in a 30 August 1981 edition of Sunday Morning, which visited O’Keeffe and examined her enduring connection with the landscapes and desert flowers of New Mexico.
Harbison’s music was described as reflecting qualities found in O’Keeffe’s paintings, translating stark, unfilled spaces into sound.
The report was presented by Bruce Morton.
