Selena Gomez has sold her former Encino mansion for $5.4 million, completing the deal several months after putting the Los Angeles property on the market.
The singer and actress listed the six-bedroom estate in May for $6.49 million, meaning it changed hands for about $1.1 million below the original asking price. Gomez bought the home for $4.89 million in 2020, before her relationship with music producer Benny Blanco. The 11,500 sq ft property was previously owned by rock star Tom Petty, who had it built in 1989. He sold the home in 2017, only months before his death aged 66.
Gomez’s Encino mansion became familiar to fans through her unscripted cooking series Selena + Chef, as well as video tutorials for her Rare Beauty cosmetics brand.

The estate was marketed as a private celebrity compound, with a gourmet kitchen, wine cellar, gym, massage room, creative workspace and vocal booth among its extensive facilities.
It also featured a main bedroom suite, a second suite upstairs and four additional bedroom suites. The interiors were described as bright and airy, with white walls, large windows and high, beamed ceilings.
Outside, the grounds included a swimming pool and hot tub, a covered barbecue area, cabana, bar, fire pit and al fresco dining space. A waterfall and stream were designed to flow into the pool and spa.
The property had undergone extensive renovations since it was first built for Petty. Its listing highlighted the architecture, soaring ceilings and bespoke finishes while presenting the home as a secluded retreat in the Encino neighbourhood.
Gomez and Blanco have since established a marital home in Beverly Hills, buying a far larger property for $35 million. The couple married in September 2025, after becoming engaged the previous year. The sale gives Gomez a gross gain of roughly $510,000 on the 2020 purchase price, before taxes, fees and renovation costs are taken into account.
