Security guards have been seen monitoring Thomas Markle Sr’s home at a senior living facility in Lakeland, Florida, where Meghan Markle’s estranged father remains under house arrest following his arrest on a federal child pornography charge.
Guards from Hammerhead Security were photographed outside the property and walking around the grounds of Maravida Senior Living. One appeared to be wearing a camouflage armoured vest, while two others were dressed in black shirts and trousers.
Mr Markle was released on bond after being arrested on Friday. The FBI took him into custody at the facility following allegations concerning the possession of child sexual abuse images made in the United States, the Philippines and Mexico.
Prosecutors allege that authorities searched storage units rented by Mr Markle and found photographs of him with nude girls. Officials in the Philippines have described material they analysed as belonging to a sex offender of the “grossest kind”, while Mexican authorities also raided a separate storage unit he rented in Rosario.
Mr Markle, who faces one count of possessing child pornography, has denied the allegations. He has said he has never slept with anyone underage.
Meghan Markle has previously said she received a letter outlining similar accusations against her father years ago and subsequently cut him off from her family.
