Ana Maria Cetina made a final FaceTime call to her sister shortly before the private jet crash near Greenacres, Florida, in which nine people died.
Angie Ramirez Cetina said her sister showed her the children in her care and gave her a glimpse of the aircraft before take-off.
“We did a video call, she showed me the children, she showed me the plane,” Angie said.
Ana Maria was travelling as a nanny with Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp and their two young children, Emma, four, and Charlie, two. Her sister said she had been “very happy” about the trip to the Bahamas.
“She was truly happy because she had never been to the Bahamas, and even though she was working, she didn’t see it as work. She enjoyed it,” Angie said.
She said she initially struggled to accept that Ana Maria had been on the aircraft after seeing reports of the crash and its flight path.
“I saw the accident, I saw the flight path, and truthfully, I didn’t want to accept that it might be my sister on the plane. But later, my mom called me on Monday morning and confirmed to me that yes, it was the flight Ana Maria was on,” she said.
The Robinson family have described Ana Maria as a tender and devoted caretaker to Emma and Charlie.
Adam, Helen, Emma and Charlie were also killed in the crash, along with Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr. The National Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation into the incident.
