Alanis Morissette has come out as pansexual during an episode of the Handsome podcast co-hosted by Tig Notaro, Fortune Feimster and Mae Martin.
The 52-year-old singer made the disclosure on the programme’s Tuesday November 3 episode, after Feimster referred to the men who had hurt her and asked whether those experiences had ever made her want to be a lesbian.
“I’m pansexual, so, yeah,” Morissette replied.
Notaro then asked whether she was serious. Morissette confirmed: “I am.”
As the presenters joked that the conversation should have begun with the revelation, Morissette responded: “I like to leave it for the epilogue.”
Pansexuality refers to the capacity to be attracted to others regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation.
Morissette has been married to hip-hop artist Mario Treadway, who performs under the name Souleye, since 2010. The couple have three children: Ever, 15, Onyx, 10, and Winter, seven.
