About 2,000 people affected by breast cancer gathered at Milwaukee’s Henry Maier Festival Park on Saturday for the 31st annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
The event, held at the Summerfest South Gate on October 10, brought together survivors, people undergoing treatment, carers, relatives and other supporters for a 1.5-mile community walk. Money raised through the American Cancer Society event supports breast cancer research, patient services and access to screening for people who need it. ([cancer.org](https://www.cancer.org/involved/fundraise/making-strides-against-breast-cancer.html?utm_source=openai))
Participant Isabella Flores said the walk offered an opportunity for people to stand together and support one another.
“It’s about community, supporting one another, uplifting one another. It’s just really beautiful to all come together for a certain cause,” she said.
FOX6 presenter Mary Stoker Smith hosted the opening ceremony before the walk began.
