Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are monitoring Brazilian defender Arthur Dias, who has emerged as one of the highly rated young players in South America.
The 19-year-old has been included in Brazil’s senior squad for upcoming friendlies against Australia and India, increasing attention on his progress. Several Premier League clubs are understood to be tracking the centre-back.
Tottenham monitoring Arthur Dias
Dias is already an important player for Athletico Paranaense and has made more than 50 senior appearances despite his age. His experience at first-team level has added to his growing reputation.
Tottenham have followed the defender closely, although it remains unclear whether they will make a formal approach. The club have recently strengthened their defensive options, which could make regular first-team football difficult for Dias if he were to move to north London.
For a player at this stage of his career, continued playing time will be central to his development. Tottenham would therefore need to offer a pathway to regular football if they decide to pursue their interest.
Newcastle also keeping tabs on defender
Newcastle are also keeping tabs on Dias, but neither Premier League club has yet followed its interest with an official offer.
Athletico Paranaense are hoping to secure the defender on a new contract. His current deal runs until 2028, and an extension could strengthen the Brazilian club’s position in any future negotiations over his transfer.
