Two children were nearly hit by cars in a residential street in Hervey Bay, Queensland, after a dark vehicle and a white SUV sped around a corner and mounted the kerb.
Doorbell camera footage shows the children riding a bicycle and a scooter along the footpath in The Glades, Wondunna, at about 5pm on Friday.
The first car narrowly misses one of the children. Moments later, the white SUV follows the same route, clipping one of the bicycles before driving between the children and crashing into a fence.
The SUV then continues away from the scene, with footage showing it passing the group again. Neighbours rush over to check on the children and assess the damage.
A neighbour who shared footage from three home security cameras on Facebook said police had been given details of the vehicle and were investigating the incident.
Community members expressed anger and concern online, while local businesses offered support with replacing the damaged fence.
Police described the incident as “troubling” and urged anyone with video footage or information to contact Crime Stoppers.
