Victoria Beckham has revealed the traditional family routine behind the Beckhams’ weekends, including a 6.30pm Sunday roast and a preference for budget gravy.
David and Victoria Beckham sit down with Romeo, Cruz and Harper for the meal, which includes Yorkshire puddings, stuffing and plenty of vegetables. Parsnips, however, are left off the menu because David dislikes them.
“Yorkshire puddings are a big crowd-pleaser, stuffing, lots of vegetables. No parsnips – it’s one of the only foods my husband does not like and will not eat,” Victoria said.
The meal is finished with “extra thick” Bisto, which Victoria noted costs £1.75. She said the family treats dinner as time to be together without their phones.
“We’re very traditional, actually, as a family,” she added.
The Beckhams’ family weekend routine
Victoria also said the family does not keep its best crockery and glassware for special occasions, and that she does not insist on coasters being used to protect the furniture.
“Things need to be used, things need to be shared. And if I’ve got beautiful glassware, I want everyone to use it,” she said.
Asked whether she worried that expensive items could be damaged, Victoria replied: “I don’t think you can ever be too precious.”
She has previously described the Beckhams as a close and traditional family who enjoy spending time together and support one another.
“We all support each other. We always show up for each other,” she said in an interview with Elle.
David has also spoken about the family’s weekends at their countryside home in the UK, where he said they grill from 11am until midnight on Saturdays.
He joked that Victoria was “more about eating and drinking”, while he cooked with the boys and Harper, who he said also enjoys preparing food.
David’s interest in cooking has included investing in one of Guy Ritchie’s £50,000 barbecue tents, which has a 12-seat table, a barbecue and a large grill. The double tent is said to be able to accommodate up to 20 guests.
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has also praised David’s cooking, describing him as a “b****y good cook”. Ramsay said David was a self-confessed perfectionist who wanted to ensure he was “a b****y good cook” whenever he prepared food.
