A woman in her 70s was shot dead inside a car in Tampa, Florida, after police said the male driver opened fire while travelling along East Fowler Avenue.
Officers were called to the 4100 block of East Fowler Avenue shortly before 11.30am on Saturday, October 3, following reports of a shooting.
Investigators said the man and woman, both in their early 70s, were travelling together when the driver fired a gun before pulling into a nearby business car park and stopping.
The woman, who was sitting in the passenger seat, suffered an upper-body gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Tampa Police Department.

The driver, described by police as a white man in his early 70s, was taken into custody and interviewed by detectives. The firearm was recovered and placed into evidence.
Police said the victim and the driver knew each other and described the shooting as an isolated incident. They said there was no continuing threat to the wider public.
The names of the woman and the man have not been released. Detectives have also not disclosed what led to the shooting inside the vehicle.
The investigation remains in its early stages, and Tampa police said further information would be released when it could be made public.
