The campaign is backed by the World Health Organisation and MĂ©decins Sans Frontières, known by its French initials MSF. It will initially target health and other frontline workers in Ituri and North Kivu, where cases have been rising sharply.…
Eleven people have been indicted over an alleged multi-state organised retail theft scheme said to have caused more than $200,000 in losses across Georgia and three other US states. The Chatham County grand jury returned the indictment on 16 September, charging all 11 defendants with violating Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations (RICO) Act. Additional charges include shoplifting, robbery, theft by taking and receiving stolen property. Prosecutors allege that the group targeted 10 major retail chains between October 2022 and September 2026, with offences reported across 11 Georgia counties and at stores in Florida, South Carolina and Virginia. An Australian mother has been charged after allegedly placing a listening device in her seven-year-old son’s pocket to find out why he was returning from school with bruises. Skye Cooper said her son, who is autistic, non-verbal and has epilepsy, had also become increasingly distressed when she took him to a primary school in eastern Victoria. She said he began refusing to leave the car and displaying behaviour he had never shown before attending the school. “When he came home with a couple of bruises, multiple times, we kept an eye on it,” the 36-year-old said. Ms Cooper said she…
Arizona State University fans gathered at watch parties across the Valley on Saturday morning to support the Sun Devils as they faced Kansas at Wembley Stadium in London. The historic Union Jack Classic was shown live at venues including the ASU Media and Immersive eXperience Center in downtown Mesa, where supporters watched the game on a large outdoor screen alongside members of the local community. A separate event at ASU’s Tempe campus offered free breakfast, football-themed giveaways and London-inspired souvenirs as fans gathered to bring a taste of game day to Arizona. The match marked the first college football game…
The US military says it killed four people in a strike on a vessel in the Caribbean that it alleges was involved in drug trafficking. US Southern Command said on Saturday that “confirmed intelligence revealed the vessel’s active involvement in narco-trafficking”. It did not provide further details about the vessel or those killed. The attack is the latest in a campaign that began last year against what the Trump administration describes as “narco-terrorists”. It came 10 days after another strike in the Caribbean in which three people were killed, according to the US military. More than 220 people have been…

The field has been redesigned as a shared space for pupils, families and neighbours. Renovations included grading, levelling and resodding the existing ground, as well as a…
An out-of-control party involving more than 200 people in Capalaba, south-east of Brisbane, has been brought under control after police officers were met with bottles and called in a helicopter for assistance. Police were alerted to a large disturbance at a residence near Ney Road and Wildflower Street at about 10.15pm on Saturday. Officers requested help from Polair after arriving to find people throwing glass bottles at them. Police eventually entered the property, while several people fled the area. A 16-year-old girl who had collapsed was taken to Redland Hospital by paramedics. A 43-year-old man from Birkdale was also found…
Alexandra Shulman has described a series of mishaps involving her late mother’s jewellery, saying they have felt like clear signs that she was not meant to wear it. Shulman’s mother died in February, leaving jewellery which had little financial value but was divided among her children rather than thrown away. Shulman chose a bracelet by designer Pippa Small, made with small unpolished gemstones, and the plain watch her mother wore every day. The watch, with its slim black strap and Roman-numeral face, disappeared within weeks. Shulman searched extensively, including the recycling bins, but could not find it. A trainer at…
