Scammers are exploiting British politeness, with more than half of adults admitting they remain on unwanted phone calls longer than they would like, according to an anti-fraud warning. A survey found that 53 per cent of people stayed on unwarranted calls rather than ending the conversation, raising concerns that fraudsters are being given more time to build trust and pressure potential victims. Fraud experts said callers should not feel obliged to continue speaking to anyone who contacts them unexpectedly, particularly if the conversation involves personal information, bank details or an urgent request for payment. Suspicious callers may pose as representatives…

More than 73 per cent of funding from a $560 million Australian community infrastructure scheme was allocated to Labor-held electorates, prompting allegations that the programme favoured the governing party’s political interests. An analysis by the Centre for Public Integrity found that only 23 per cent of funding from the invitation-only Major and Local Community Infrastructure Program went to Coalition-held seats, while the remaining 4 per cent was allocated elsewhere. The scheme was established after the 2025 federal election to fund upgrades to sporting facilities, parks, playgrounds, pools and other community infrastructure. Only organisations invited by the federal government were eligible…

Sources cited by the Daily Mail claimed the pair had not immediately formed an easy working relationship, with Hollywood said to be unsettled by Lawson’s arrival after years of judging alongside Prue…

Huawei has unveiled the Mate XT2, a tri-fold smartphone that combines a large tablet-style display with a privacy mode similar to Samsung’s Privacy Display technology. The device follows Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold by folding its main screen inwards, rather than leaving part of the display exposed as an outer screen. The arrangement is intended to offer greater protection for the flexible panel when the phone is closed. Opened out, the Huawei Mate XT2 has a 10.2-inch display. An optional privacy function narrows the viewing angle by directing light towards the user, making content harder for people nearby to read. That…

She was fit, did not smoke or drink, ate well and had no obvious symptoms. But after a friend suggested a CT coronary calcium scan, Yaxley pressed for the additional investigation despite being told she was “too fit” for it to reveal anything and that she would have…

A senior member of Donald Trump’s Cabinet appeared to reveal how the US president unwinds during a brief exchange outside a courthouse in Washington DC. The official, described as one of Mr Trump’s most trusted Cabinet figures, made the disclosure in late August while speaking to reporters outside the court. The remarks offered a rare glimpse into the president’s private routine away from the White House, where he has faced mounting political and legal pressures. No further details of the exchange were immediately available, and the Cabinet member did not appear to intend to make a formal announcement.
