The trial of former NSW police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon has begun in Sydney over the alleged murders of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies.
Lamarre-Condon has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder relating to the shooting deaths of the couple at Baird’s home in Sydney’s eastern suburbs in February 2024.
He has also denied an aggravated break-and-enter charge concerning Baird’s home in August 2023, along with allegations that he stole Baird’s mobile phone and wallet.
Justice Natalie Adams is presiding over the proceedings at the historic King Street court complex. Fifteen jurors, comprising nine men and six women, were empanelled on Monday afternoon.
The trial is expected to last up to 12 weeks. Justice Adams told potential jurors that she would give introductory remarks before Crown prosecutor Brett Hatfield, SC, delivered an opening address expected to last about two hours.
Defence barrister John Stratton, SC, is also expected to make an opening address as the case gets under way.
