Australind Bunnings has been rated the second-best store in Australia, while the Kalamunda outlet has been named Western Australia’s lowest-rated branch in a national analysis of customer reviews.
Australind received an average score of 4.46 stars from 871 Google reviews, narrowly behind Newstead in Brisbane, which topped the national rankings with 4.47 stars from 2,909 reviews.
By contrast, Kalamunda recorded 3.85 stars from 377 reviews, placing it sixth from the bottom among the 306 Bunnings stores assessed.
The rankings were compiled by SEO experts at seobacklinks.com, who analysed more than 482,000 ratings collected on October 20. Stores were included only if they had received at least 200 reviews, with researchers calculating precise averages from individual one- to five-star ratings rather than using Google’s rounded figures.
Australind praised for its range
One Australind customer acknowledged that the store was smaller than outlets in larger cities but said it had still met their needs.
“Little smaller than the big city shops but it had everything I needed for a small Reno down south,” the shopper wrote.
Kalamunda reviews were considerably less favourable, with complaints focusing on narrow aisles and products being unavailable. One customer wrote: “Great place if you can walk sideways like a crab down the narrow aisles to then walk out empty handed as there is nothing in stock.”
Willetton was the next-lowest-rated WA store, with an average of 3.97 stars from 1,101 reviews. East Victoria Park scored 4.02, followed by Osborne Park on 4.06.
A Willetton shopper wrote: “Worst Bunnings they have no stock whatsoever.” Other reviews cited shortages at East Victoria Park and Osborne Park, parking problems at Claremont and long queues at Maddington.
After Australind, the highest-rated WA stores were Baldivis on 4.37 stars, Joondalup on 4.36, Halls Head on 4.35, Busselton and Mirrabooka on 4.32, Mindarie on 4.31, Ellenbrook on 4.30, and Wangara and Mandurah on 4.29.
One Joondalup customer praised the store’s selection, writing: “Massive range, if they don’t have it, it doesn’t exist.”
Western Australia’s 38 ranked stores had an average rating of 4.21 stars, matching the national average. Tasmania recorded the highest state average, at 4.30 stars.
Oliver Weston, founder of seobacklinks.com, said the reviews highlighted the differences in customer experience between stores operating under the same name.
“Bunnings is a weekend habit for a lot of Australians, so people notice when their local store falls short,” he said. “At the bottom of the list, reviewers say the store is too small, the item they came for is out of stock or nobody answers the phone.
“At the top, they talk about full shelves, easy parking and staff who help carry heavy loads to the car.”
Randwick in Sydney was the lowest-rated store nationally, with 3.70 stars from 1,189 reviews.
