BlackMilk Clothing has entered voluntary administration after moving its production offshore earlier this year, as the Australian fashion brand faces rising costs and difficult trading conditions.
Co-owner Linda Lillis said the business had undergone “significant change” in response to what she described as a “very different retail environment” in recent years.
“But the combination of a challenging consumer environment, rising costs and increasingly complex global trading conditions has continued to place pressure on the business,” she said in a statement posted on the brand’s social media page.
Ms Lillis said BlackMilk’s website would remain open and that customer orders would continue to be shipped.
The development follows an announcement by chief executive Jackie Kruger in July that the company would wind down manufacturing at its final Australian factory in Brisbane.
It was understood that production would subsequently move to China.
