Donald Trump has shared a computer-generated video showing him wrestling the Siberian tiger that mauled a British man to death at a zoo in South Yorkshire.
The 23-second clip, posted on the US president’s Truth Social network on Tuesday US time, begins by mirroring footage of William Chapman’s final moments before he was killed on Saturday.
In the fabricated sequence, Mr Trump is shown in a suit and tie sitting on the ground as Altai, a 200-kilogram male tiger, swipes at him. He then jumps up, chases the animal and throws it to the ground before the pair appear to hug.
The video is set to The Lion Sleeps Tonight. A screenshot showed Mr Trump grappling with the tiger.
South Yorkshire Police had asked members of the public not to share “distressing footage” of Mr Chapman’s death.
On Tuesday evening, Mr Chapman’s family said they were experiencing “severe distress” over footage and other content being circulated online.
