Chicago is set for a run of warm, increasingly brighter weather before rain becomes a possibility again early next week, with temperatures expected to reach the low-to-mid 80s over the weekend.
Thursday, September 10, will remain mostly cloudy across the city, with temperatures near 80F (27C). A small chance of rain or an isolated rumble of thunder is forecast across parts of southern LaSalle, Grundy, Kankakee, Jasper and Newton counties.

Conditions are expected to improve on Friday, when sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80s are forecast. Saturday should stay mostly sunny and warmer, with highs in the mid-80s, although the National Weather Service has indicated there could be a chance of showers or thunderstorms later in the day.
Sunday is expected to be partly sunny, with temperatures easing back to the upper 70s. Warmer conditions are then likely to return on Monday, when highs could reach the mid-to-upper 80s.
Rain may become more unsettled from Monday through Tuesday night, with showers possible at intervals. Tuesday is expected to be mostly cloudy and around 80F (27C), while Wednesday should bring partly sunny skies and cooler temperatures in the mid-70s.
