Politicians are calling for the livestreaming of a US execution to be banned in Australia, but the country’s eSafety commissioner has said she does not have the powers to block it.
The demand has raised questions over whether Australian authorities can prevent access to the broadcast, described by politicians as “disgusting”.
The eSafety commissioner’s position means the livestream is likely to proceed, despite the calls for it to be stopped.
