A murder investigation has been launched following the death of semi-professional footballer Ezekiel Williams, who suffered injuries in Milton Keynes and later died in hospital. He was 26.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder, while a third has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Williams was injured in the Buckinghamshire town, about 50 miles from London, on Sunday. He was taken to hospital but died from his injuries.
Hendon FC, where Williams began playing in September, said he was a “humble, unassuming and generous individual with a razor-sharp wit”.
A fundraising page has been set up to support his wife and children. Its organisers described Williams as having “the purest of hearts” and said anyone who met him would have heard his words of encouragement and felt his infectious positivity.
The tribute added that he was “a man who never had anything given to him and was prepared to put in the work to achieve his full potential”.
