Eric André has joked that Chet Hanks was flirting with him during their confrontation at ComplexCon, while suggesting that a longer video of the exchange could alter the picture.
The actor and comedian discussed the incident in an interview at LAX on Monday, after footage emerged showing Hanks grabbing him from behind before the pair exchanged words.
André appeared unconcerned about the dispute, joking that he had been unable to sleep over it while indicating that he was not taking the confrontation particularly seriously.
He also suggested that the incident may have been misunderstood, saying the encounter was Hanks’s way of flirting with him. However, André stopped short of insisting that there was no animosity between them.
André claimed a longer version of the argument was circulating online and said it should be seen. The footage had not been located at the time of the interview.
Hanks previously shared video of the convention incident online and claimed he confronted André, alleging that the comedian only began speaking aggressively after security had moved between them.
The exchange has left the pair appearing to remain at odds, although André’s comments offered a more dismissive interpretation of what happened.
