Milwaukee Brewers fan Craig Dexheimer returned Cooper Pratt’s 12th-inning home-run ball to the rookie after the team’s World Series victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.
The ball had landed between Dexheimer’s feet at Tropicana Field during Game 4, when Pratt’s solo homer briefly put Milwaukee ahead and left the Brewers three outs from clinching the title.
The Rays overturned the deficit with a two-run rally in the bottom of the 12th, winning 4-3 and forcing a fifth game in the best-of-seven series.
Pratt’s home run was the first by a rookie in extra innings of a World Series. He finished Game 4 with four hits, despite Milwaukee’s defeat.
The Brewers responded by beating Tampa Bay 4-1 in Game 5 on Wednesday to secure the first World Series title in franchise history. Pratt contributed two more hits and two RBIs as Milwaukee completed its championship run.
