The Milwaukee Brewers have won their first World Series title after defeating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 at Tropicana Field in St Petersburg, Florida.
The victory on Wednesday night gave the Brewers a 4-1 series win, while the Rays were left without a victory in their latest World Series appearance.
Milwaukee had last reached the championship series in 1982, when they lost to the St Louis Cardinals. The triumph marks the first World Series success in the Brewers’ history.
The Brewers secured their place in the final by sweeping the defending champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers, in the National League Championship Series.
Tampa Bay claimed the American League pennant after overcoming the Cleveland Guardians in six games. The Rays have now appeared in four World Series but have never won the title.
