Celebrity Race Across the World viewers have voiced concern for Princess and Junior Andre after the siblings finished the opening episode in last place, following a difficult journey through Borneo.
The pair, aged 19 and 21 respectively, were still 230km from the finish line and a day behind their rivals, who had already reached the first checkpoint.
While singer Ella Eyre and her friend Nana arrived at the hotel checkpoint, followed closely by veteran sportscaster Jeff Stelling and his son Matt, Princess and Junior were travelling on a night bus.
The journey took an unpleasant turn when the siblings revealed that two other passengers had been sick on board. Junior said the bus “stank”, prompting viewers to share their sympathy on social media.
“Not the puking on the bus,” one viewer wrote, while others described it as a “trip of nightmares” and said: “Poor Princess and Junior.” Another added: “Junior and Princess still away from the first checkpoint.”
Some viewers were already questioning whether the pair would complete the race. One predicted: “So.. I have this feeling that Princess and Junior are not going to finish race…”
The siblings had faced a series of challenges before boarding the bus. They worked on a coconut farm and stayed overnight, but were unsettled after being told that the shower used cold water from the mountain and that there was no toilet paper, only a bowl of water.
The conditions led to comparisons with the jungle experience of their parents, Peter Andre and Katie Price, who met while appearing on I’m A Celebrity. One viewer joked that Princess and Junior were “getting a taste of I’m A Celeb with those toilets”.
Elsewhere, Ella and Nana made a strong start by embracing local life and securing agricultural work to stretch their limited budget. They later travelled into west Kalimantan and were welcomed into a traditional Dayak longhouse.
Jeff Stelling and Matt also encountered tension, with Jeff favouring a meal, drinks and a comfortable bed over taking unnecessary risks. He told his son: “Heat, hills, a backpack and dodgy knees. Worst combination ever.”
