A 39-year-old father has been charged with murder after his two-year-old son was found unresponsive at an apartment complex in Marietta, Georgia, and later died in hospital.
Officers were called to the Legacy at West Cobb Apartments on Favor Road at about 8.36pm on 3 September following reports of the child’s condition. Police said they began emergency treatment before he was taken to Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Father held without bail
Detectives from the Cobb County Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit investigated the circumstances surrounding the death and said they identified “elements of negligence”. Authorities have not disclosed what they believe happened to the child.
The father, Lolo Anilus, was arrested under a warrant and charged with second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to children and making false statements.
Anilus is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Centre without bail. The child’s name has not been released.
