Australia reached 4-362 against South Africa as Josh Inglis moved to within three runs of a century and Alex Carey advanced to 69.
South Africa’s Simon Harmer was unable to hold a dipping edge from Carey off Kagiso Rabada’s final delivery, with the missed chance compounded when the ball cut his left hand.
Harmer received treatment between overs, although the injury was to his non-bowling hand. “Hopefully, it hasn’t done too much damage to his hand,” Simon Katich said on commentary.
Harmer returned to bowl but continued to appear troubled by the injury, while Inglis remained unbeaten on 97 as Australia sought to extend their advantage.
